F. Kubicek et T. Hrnciarova, Ecological carrying capacity of landscape on the selected territory of theTatra National Park and its protective belt, EKOL BRATIS, 18(2), 1999, pp. 189-199
The term ecological carrying capacity of landscape is understood in this co
ntribution as a synthetically comprehended special quality expressing the d
egree of tolerable (suitable) land-use. As bearably utilized can be describ
ed a territory on which the present utilization disturbs or destroys neithe
r natural qualities, processes and relations among landscape elements (biot
ic, abiotic, socio-economical), nor the quality of vital environment. We ap
plied this concept of ecological carrying capacity of a landscape to the ev
aluation of the ecological carrying capacity of the territory of the Tatra
National Park and its protective belt. On the basis of a complex evaluation
of ecological limits of the territory, we determined the set of variant un
limited activities forming the basis for the estimation of the degrees of e
cological carrying capacity of the landscape. The three degrees singled out
were characterized in more detail, with respect to the future landscape ex
ploitation, and completed by measures intended to mitigate some negative pr
ocesses in the landscape, to improve the functional land-use and the enviro
nment.
