Abstract
Tramadol's two enantiomers produce analgesia, in acute and chronic pain sta tes, by combining synergistically, weak opioid and monoaminergically-mediat ed mechanisms. Tramadol is interesting, being free of some of the clinicall y significant side-effects seen with other opioids of comparable efficacy.
