Abstract
Doctors are increasingly involved in child protection proceedings which con sider whether emotional abuse has occurred. This may be a complex and diffi cult area, hindered by the paucity of consensus opinion and research in thi s area. This review suggests how doctors can assist in the decision-making process and outlines the management of children and adults who suffer seque lae of emotional abuse.
