Treatment of water-soluble alpha-,beta- and gamma-cyclodextrin-epichlorohyd
rin prepolymer (CDP) with C-60 by kneading leads to the formation of six di
stinct water-soluble inclusion complexes: alpha-CDP/C-60 (1:1), beta-CDP/C-
60 (1:1), gamma-CDP/C-60 (1:1), alpha-CDP(2:1), beta-CDP(2:1) and gamma-CDP
(2:1). Their formation and structures have been examined by X-ray powder di
ffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and UV-vis spectro
socopy. The effect of side chains of the CDPs has also been studied.
