Magnetic susceptibility of Y(Mn1-xMex)(2) (Me = Al, Fe and Ni) compounds wa
s measured in the temperature range 2-400 K under external pressure up to 5
kbar. The role of the interatomic Mn-Mn spacing in stabilising the antifer
romagnetic transformed phase has been revealed. The value of partial deriva
tive T-N/partial derivative P approximate to -50 K/kbar was found to be ess
entially higher than in the mother compound YMn2. A freezing effect was obs
erved in the non-transformed phase which was related to the break-down of t
