Abstract
Spindlerella groenlandica, a proposed new species and genus that was descri bed by Brandt and Vassileno (1995), has been compared with several differen tly sized stages of Paramphithoe hystrix Ross, 1835. The similarities betwe en these taxa were found to be strong enough to require synonymization.
