In Liquid cycloalkanes, single-photon excitation of solute radical cations
leads to rapid transfer of a valence band electron and formation of a free
solvent hole ("hole injection"). Quantum yields for this process upon 2.3 a
nd 5 eV laser excitation of several aromatic radical cations in trans-decal
in are reported and the photophysics of the hole injection in cycloalkane l
iquids is discussed.
