Myocardial cytoprotection. Current status and perspectives

The paper contains narration of modern concepts of myocardial ischemia-repe rfusion and mechanisms responsible for its development. Detailed discussion of the role of these mechanisms in formation of stunned and hibernating my ocardium is also presented together with evaluation of possible clinical ma nifestations and methods of diagnosis of myocardial stunning and hibernatio n. This is followed by information on types of cardioprotection and value o f each type for survival of patients with cardiovascular diseases, on achie vements and problems of pharmacological myocardial protection, and on the p rospects of the use of trimetazidine as cardioprotective drug.
