It was observed that tensile properties, burst volume and burst pressure of
NR latex condoms vary significantly with vulcanising system. When one comp
onent of the control accelerator system was replaced, ageing resistance was
found to be improved. Higher concentrations of ZMBT adversely affected ten
sile strength, burst volume and burst pressure after ageing at 70 degrees C
, It was also observed-that as the concentration of sulphur increased, mech
anical strength of condoms increased as shown by increased tensile properti
es, burst volume and burst pressure; however this was accompanied by a decr
ease in ageing resistance.
