The compressive creep deformations at elevated temperatures have been inves
tigated using single decagonal Al-Ni-Co samples prepared by Czochralski met
hod. The creep deformation is characterized by a significant anisotropy of
activation energy between the different compressive directions of 2-fold sy
mmetry axis (330 kJ/mol) and 10-fold symmetry axis (120 kJ/mol). The differ
ence of deformation mechanisms along the 2-fold and 10-fold axes has been e
xamined by the HRTEM observation which showed varied cluster rearrangements
.
