M. Probst et R. Holze, A SYSTEMATIC SPECTROELECTROCHEMICAL INVESTIGATION OF ALKYL-SUBSTITUTED ANILINES AND THEIR POLYMERS, Macromolecular chemistry and physics, 198(5), 1997, pp. 1499-1509
Various aniline derivatives carrying one or two alkyl substituents in
Various positions (alkylanilines, toluidines and xylidines) were polym
erized electrochemically. The obtained conducting polymers were charac
terized by cyclic voltammetry, in situ infrared spectroscopy and in si
tu conductivity measurements. Differences in the electrochemical prope
rties of the investigated monomers and polymers are explained an the b
asis of steric and electronic effects of the substituents. These concl
usions are supported by data of vibrational spectroscopy.
