A man with shoulder pain and complaints of weakness had examination finding
s consistent with a suprascapular neuropathy with predominant involvement o
f the infraspinatus muscle. Electrodiagnostic studies confirmed an axon-los
s suprascapular neuropathy with greater involvement of the infraspinatus mu
scle. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated a large ganglion cyst o
riginating from the glenohumeral joint. The clinical, electrodiagnostic, an
d radiologic evaluation of suprascapular neuropathy is discussed. (C) 1999
