M. Wolfersdorf et al., Depression with psychotic symptoms and the course of illness - Results of a 6-year-catamnestic study, NERVENHEILK, 18(4), 1999, pp. 197-201
In a 6-year catamnestic study we compared the course of depression with psy
chotic symptomes (n = 15) versus depression without these symptomes (n = 43
) during an index episode with hospital treatment. There was no difference
in the course of both types of depression but the risk of suicide especiall
y during the first year after inpatient treatment was significantly higher
in the psychotic depression group.
