Abstract
New imidazoles-cobalt(II) acetate complexes and their polynuclear comp lexes were synthesized by the reaction of cobalt(II) acetate with imid azoles(HL:HIm, 2-CH3 . HIm, 2-C2H2 . HIm, 2-(CH3)(2) CH . HIm, 4-CH3 . HIm). The mononuclear complexes obtained were [CoA(2)(HL)(2)](A:CH3CO O-) with the tetrahedral configuration, and no complexes of [Co(HL)(n) ]A(2)(n=4, 6) type could be synthesized. Pink polynuclear complexes in the form of [CoL2](n)(L:im(-), 2-CH3 . im(-), 2-C2H5 . im(-), 4-CH3 . im(-)) with the tetrahedral cobalt(II) units were obtained by refluxi ng a ethanol, 1-propanol or 1-butanol solution of [CoA(2)(HL)(2)], whe reas [Co(2-(CH3)(2)CH . im)(2)](n) did not yield. Thermal properties o f [CoA(2)(HL)(2)] and [CoL2](n) were also investigated.
