Abstract
In order to carry out electron scattering experiments with longitudinally p olarized electrons, a 'Siberian Snake' comprising superconducting solenoids and skew quadrupoles was installed in the 900 MeV electron storage ring 'A mPS'. In this paper the basic optics of this novel design is discussed and first experimental results are reported. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
