In Russia, the time has come to restructure the oil and gas sector, and maj or oil conglomerates have been created to operate on the international petr oleum market whereas, in other independent republics such as Kazakhstan, Az erbaijan and Turkmenistan, national companies have been set up with the sol e objective of pursuing domestic operations and coordinating work undertake n by foreign companies.
