Abstract
The possibility of FM-AM conversion in an injection-locked FP semiconductor laser has been investigated analytically in this paper. It is found that t he efficiency of FM-AM conversion depends upon the value of some key parame ters of the device such as nonlinearity parameter, optical injection level and linewidth enhancement factor. Index of converted AM has been numericall y estimated. The injection-locked laser of the proposed FM-AM converter red uces the Relative Intensity Noise (RIN) of the input signal drastically.
