Abstract
Repetition-rate multiplication has been shown by use of a fiber ring oscill ator with a semiconductor optical amplifier as the gain medium and by use o f fast saturation and recovery of the amplifier from an external optical pu lse train. Repetition-frequency multiplication up to 6 times and up to 34.6 8-GHz frequency have been achieved. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America.
