K. Okura et S. Matsuzaki, STUDY OF PIGMENT (COPPER PHTHALOCYANINE B LUE) DISPERSION BY MICRO PORE ANALYSIS TECHNOLOGY, Nippon kagaku kaishi, (1), 1997, pp. 73-81
Pigment dispersion is one of the biggest important problems in colorin
g industries. Authors applied the micro pore distribution analysis, pr
oposed by BARRET(5)), and micro pore volume analysis (de Boer(6)), t-p
lot analysis) to the pigment(copper phthalocyanine blue pigment)disper
sion. Pigment samples with different particle size, different drying c
onditions and different surface character were prepared for the study.
Micro pore analysis using N-2 gas adsorption and desorption measureme
nt could be good way to estimate the pigment agglomeration structure a
nd the dispersibility of each pigment sample. Pigment dispersion and c
olor strength reading made by ordinary pigment dispersion technique, s
howed good relation with micro pore analysis. Samples having large num
ber of micro pores at smaller micro pore size on the distribution curv
e showed good dispersibility, and larger micro pore volume directly re
lated to the dispersibility of the pigment.
