Abstract
The first isolation of 4-oxonicotinamide-1-(1'-beta-D-ribofuranoside) from a nonmammalian source, the West African plant Rothmannia longiflova Salisb. (Rubiaceae), is described. Its stereostructure was established by spectros copic methods and an X-ray structure analysis of its tri-O-acetyl derivativ e. This N-glycoside had previously been isolated only from human urine. In addition, the plant was found to contain monomethyl fumarate and D-mannitol . (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
