The present study concentrates on the average effective two-body interactio
n matrix elements extracted, using sum-rule techniques, from transfer react
ions with target states having single orbital as well as two orbital occupa
ncy. This investigation deals with transfer reactions with f-p shell nuclei
involving (i) 1 f(7/2) and 2p(3/2) transfer to target states using Ca-40 a
s an inert core, and (ii) 2p(3/2) and 1f(5/2) transfer to states using Ni-5
6 as a core.
Throughout this investigation, it is assumed that the target states involve
d have pure configurations.
