Prestige of the military service

"Prestige of the military service" (by Serguey Burda) is based on the surve y data related to the servicemen and newly enlisted persons, and VTSIOM stu dies. Evaluated is the social importance of the army as an institutions. St atutory and the army officers' real societal position were evaluated as wel l as level of trust towards the army. The findings reflect a fall in the pr estige of the armed forces service. The reasons for the situation are found to be a) inability to achieve an adequate social position, b) growing soci al tensions among the officer corps, c) lack of attention to the armed forc es officers being recently displayed by the government bodies.
