Several new complexes of the Schiff base obtained by the condensation of gl
ycyl-DL-alanine with 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde were synthesized. The comple
xes were characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, in
frared and electronic spectra and H-1 NMR. The ligand is coordinated to the
central metal as tetradentate ONNO ligand. The bonding sites are the carbo
xylate oxygen, imino nitrogen, amide nitrogen and phenolic oxygen.
