Af. Gourgues et E. Andrieu, Environmentally assisted cracking of Alloy 600 in air at 550 degrees C andin pressurised water reactor primary water, ANN CHIM-SC, 24(4-5), 1999, pp. 321-328
Intergranular crack propagation in Alloy 600 tested at 550 degrees C in an
air environment has been attributed to an interaction between the mechanica
l properties and the oxidation behaviour of the material. This mechanism co
uld possibly also act at lower temperature (400 degrees C) and even in the
primary water of pressurised water reactors at 320 degrees C.
