Abstract
Description of structures of the third instar of Antiporus strigosulus (Bro un) is presented. Based on actual knowledge of larval morphology of the sub family Hydroporinae, it is confirmed that Antiporus Sharp belongs to tribe Hydroporini. Within the Hydroporini, Antiporus is hypothesized to constitut e a monophyletic assemblage along with Nebrioporus Regimbart and Stictotars us Zimmermann based on two synapomorphies: presence of natatory setae on do rsal margin of femora, tibiae, and tarsi, and urogomphomere 1 which is more than 3.10 times longer than urogomphomere 2. This clade may include also o ther genera of which information on these character slates is not available .
