The results of detailed photometric studies of the peculiar galaxy UGV 1020
5 are presented. The observed surface-brightness distribution and rotation
curve are investigated in the framework of a two-component model with a bul
ge acid disk. The overall photometric and kinematic characteristics are con
sistent with those of a normal giant early-type (S0/aSa) galaxy. The main p
eculiarities of the galaxy (the presence of a weak asymmetric envelope and
strongly noncircular gas motions in the nuclear region) are explained using
a numerical model in which an early stage is observed in the capture and t
idal disruption of a small type E/S0 companion by the massive central galax
y.
