A new model for mixing in circulatory flows has been developed. The model i
s conceptually simple and uses a single parameter gamma (with values betwee
n -1 and 1) representing physical flow conditions in the circulation loop t
o simulate the different mixing behaviour ranging from perfect plug how to
complete backmixing. Model predictions of tracer concentration profiles and
mixing times are in good agreement with the experimental results from trac
