Abstract
The rate and extent of hydroxylation of cholesterol catalyzed by Mn an d Fe porphyrinates in the presence of NaBH4 increase with the addition of cysteine and histidine. This effect is more pronounced for cystein e. Leucine does not accelerate the process.
