Abstract
The authors experimentally demonstrate dynamic optimisation of dispersion i n a nonlinear lightwave system using an electrically tunable, power efficie nt dispersion compensating fibre Bragg grating device. The device provides the ability to adjust, in a dynamic fashion, the dispersion compensation in a 20Gbit/s single channel NRZ system in order to maintain optimum system p erformance under nonlinear transmission conditions over a 17dB variation in launch power.
