Abstract
Chromatographic retention parameters k' and k(w) were determined by RP -HPLC for a set of standard non-congeneric compounds and the correlati on with log P-o/w established. Then, log P-o/w was calculated for a se ries of antimicrobial hydrazides, as a test set. A comparison of the c hromatographic parameters log k' and log k(w) with the hydrophobicity index phi(0) were also made. It seems that for the study compounds, lo g k(w) describes the partitioning better than the parameter phi(0).
