P. Bousquet et al., MANDIBULAR VESTIBULOPLASTY AND GINGIVAL GRAFTS USING IMPACTED POSTS, The International journal of prosthodontics, 10(3), 1997, pp. 235-240
In the presence of an atrophic endentulous mandible, the stability of
the mandibular denture is related to the quality of the osteomucosal s
upport and the muscles surrounding it. A new procedure for vestibulopl
asty is described that combines a periosteal flap and a gingival graft
. Titanium impacted posts are used for fixation and the stabilization
of the flap and graft. This clinical report presents the results for 1
2 patients. Clinical appraisal indicates that the technique appears to
improve the anteroposterior stability of the mandibular denture, incr
easing the attached mucosa and offering better long-term results. The
management of the gingival and muscular environment can improve the pe
ri-implant area.
