Co-deposited CoPt alloy films grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on (0 0
1) MgO were shown to display various microstructures, different degrees of
L1(0) long-range order (LRO) and a broad range of uniaxial magnetic anisot
ropies (K-u), depending on growth conditions and alloy composition. Experim
ental results of magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) are presented here and th
e coercive fields of the films are discussed in terms of the structure, mic
