Wave propagation in magneto-optical media is analyzed on the basis of eigen
mode waves. Three basic configurations for magneto-optical effects are stud
ied. In the transversal geometry the guided mode condition in sandwiches ca
n be divided into s- and p-polarized waves. For longitudinal and polar conf
igurations the waveguiding is composed of circular-like polarized eigenmode
