We present a quantum theory of magnetoplasmons in lateral multiwire superla
ttices. The calculation of the dynamical response is performed in the frame
work of the random-phase approximation using the tight-binding approximatio
n for the electronic ground state. The dependences of the dispersion relati
ons of the magnetoplasmons on the propagation direction, magnetic field and
period of the lateral multiwire superlattice are investigated in detail. I
t is shown that the magnetoplasmon spectrum shows fine-structure effects. S
pecial attention is directed to the strong-confinement case, where the size
-quantization effects in each wire are most important and electron tunnelli
ng between the wires is weak.
