Porous silica powders with high specific surface area were prepared by the
chemical precipitation method from waterglass and hydrochloric acid. A non-
ionic surfactant was used to induce precipitate and to form pore. The calci
ned products had uniform pores and high specific surface areas (>1000 m(2)
g(-1)). The specific surface area of the product was altered with the varia
tion in the amount of the surfactant. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All ri
