Abstract
The results of a recent investigation of fatigue crack growth in the in-sit u titanium matrix composite, Ti-6Al-4V-0.5B, are presented. An effort is ma de to understand the crack-tip plasticity in a TIE whisker reinforced titan ium matrix composite using crack-tip transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The results of crack/microstructure interaction studies are di scussed, and an effort is made to quantify the effects of fatigue crack bri dging. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science S.A.
