Abstract
Nonstoichiometric spinel compounds are prepared from LiNO3 and EMD(Ele ctrolytic Manganese Dioxide) by the melt-impregnation method. We have found that initial charge capacity can be successful ly calculated fro m chemical formula based on the existence of excess Li ion and/or vaca ncy in 16d sits. The relation between chemical composition and electro chemical properties is successfully explained using the triangle phase diagram described by average Mn valance, m, and Li/Mn in atomic ratio , n, as parameters. Spinel compounds are classified into'' Lithium ric h spinel'' and ''Oxygen rich spinel'' based on its spinel formula. Our results are able to explain the reason why the capacity of doped mang anese spinal with different metal ion is decreased.
