R-matrix theory as applied by Burke and co-workers has been outstandingly s
uccessful at treating a range of electron collision problems. Recently, thi
s work has been extended to the treatment of electron scattering from polya
tomic molecules. The construction of a general electron-polyatomic-R-matrix
code is discussed. Sample results are presented for electron collisions wi
th atmospherically important species N2O, O-3, H2O and CO2.
