Abstract
Ultraviolet and visible beam-foil spectroscopy (1800-5300 Angstrom) of Ne a t 10 MeV reveals many transitions between Rydberg levels with principal qua ntum numbers 5 less than or equal to n less than or equal to 15 in Ne VI-X. Most of the low-l transitions for the strong ground-state core transition lines in Ne VIII have been observed. Low-l transitions of Ne VI 6-7 and Ne VII 6-7 as well as metastable core-excited quartet Rydberg transitions for Ne VI 6-7, Ne Vm 7-8 and Ne VIII 8-9 were identified based on multi-configu ration Hartree-Fock calculations. New transitions between n = 3 levels have been assigned in Ne VI, VII and IX.
