Abstract
The sorption of volatile solvents by polymeric films used in food packages was evaluated and the influence of several parameters (Film-thickness, crys tallinity, immersion time, air time) has been studied. Knowledge of the int eraction between foodstuffs and packaging material is very important for th e development of packaging systems. The organic solvents were determined by an automated head-space system and separated by gas chromatography. The st udied polymeric films were low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density po lyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), polypropylene cast, polyamide (PA), and polyamide cast.
