Abstract
Oxazolo[1,2-a]quinoline derivatives were used to synthesise novel bridgehea d cyanine dyes such as azamethine, monomethine and trimethine cyanines. The electronic absorption spectra of these dyes in ethanol and several organic solvents are discussed.
