A preliminary comparison of guided compliance and high-probability instructional sequences as treatment for noncompliance in children with developmental disabilities
Mr. Smith et Dc. Lerman, A preliminary comparison of guided compliance and high-probability instructional sequences as treatment for noncompliance in children with developmental disabilities, RES DEV DIS, 20(3), 1999, pp. 183-195
The efficacy of guided compliance and high-probability instructional sequen
ces was compared with two children referred to an outpatient clinic for tre
atment of noncompliance. Parents were taught to implement the procedures in
their homes, and parent-training outcomes for the two interventions were c
ompared in terms of treatment effectiveness, procedural integrity, and pare
nt satisfaction. Levels of compliance were higher under guided compliance t
han under high-probability instructional sequences. Nevertheless, parents r
apidly learned to implement both treatments with a high degree of accuracy
and reported equal satisfaction with the procedures. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie
