In this study, a methodology has been developed for obtaining a drivin
g cycle from the measured data in actual traffic conditions. Vehicle s
peed transition matrices formed from the measured data are used in two
stages to obtain a representative speed-time history for the route in
consideration minimizing the deviation from average values for vehicl
e speed, acceleration and acceleration in relation to speed. Sample ca
lculations have been performed indicating reasonable results.
