Abstract
Possible steady states of a reactor-rectifying column recycle system were a nalyzed in relation to the recycle flow rate and composition for an A + B r eversible arrow C reaction. It is assumed that the reactants are fed into t he system in stoichiometric amounts. Conditions for the existence of multip le steady states were analyzed. Given the feed contains stoichiometric amou nts of the reactants, an infinite number of steady states corresponding to complete conversion of the reactants are plausible.
