The photochemistry of solid beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) inclusion complexes
of xanthone and acetoveratrone has been studied by steady-state emission s
pectroscopy and diffuse reflectance laser flash photolysis (DRLFP). The for
mation of beta-CD inclusion complexes of acetoveratrone in aqueous solution
has been established by means of steady-state emission spectroscopy. The a
nalysis of the guest triplet decay in the solid beta-CD complexes using the
Albery model confirms that such a model can provide a better understanding
of the inclusion effect in solid cyclodextrin complexes and therefore can
help with the understanding of the weak interactions in supramolecular chem
istry.
