Eikonal and transport equations describing acoustic propagation in inh
omogeneous nonlinear moving media are successively derived in the high
-frequency approximation. For the first time, exact solutions to these
equations have been obtained for an arbitrary distribution of the pha
se (wave front) and amplitude (beam profile and temporal pulse) on the
surface of a sound source of arbitrary geometry. Ray patterns and iso
bar levels are calculated in a plane-layered medium in the presence of
a wind whose speed increases with altitude.
