In this study, the corrosion inhibition of austenitic chromium-nickel steel
in an acidic medium containing Various concentrations of crotyl alcohol wa
s investigated with potentiodynamic current-potential curves from 298-343 K
. For the same inhibitor concentration, a rise in temperature causes a posi
tive shift in the corrosion potentials and an increase in the corrosion rat
es. The values of the activation energy (E-a) determined here indicate that
the inhibiting effect increases with inhibitor concentration. It is shown
that adsorption is inconsistent with the Temkin isotherm. (C) 1999 Publishe
