Hd. Kambezidis et al., REMOTE-SENSING OF AIR-POLLUTION DYNAMICS OVER LARGE EUROPEAN CITIES, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 6(3-4), 1997, pp. 166-171
In large urban areas the air pollution load at any ground location is
dependent on many factors like topography. In addition to ground-based
air pollution measurements laser remote sensing facilities are now av
ailable, With a sensing range 2-4 km the differential absorption LIDAR
method allows 3D studies of air pollution dynamics. In this paper pre
sentation with relevant explanations of some typical measurements with
a DIAL system during EC MEDCAPHOT-TRACE campaign performed in Athens
in the summer of 1994, as well as some results from other European cit
ies in the recent years will be made.
