In this contribution we analyze an industrial multicomponent depropanizer m
odel and show how to rewrite the original model to index-one formulation th
at is well adapted to dynamic optimization. The optimal control problems ar
e then studied with the aim of determination of the optimal output trajecto
ries for minimum changeover time requirements. These can be utilized as set
