Single crystals of beryllium indialite were prepared by slow cooling of a m
elt from 1380 degrees C to 1200 degrees C. The crystal structure of the cry
stals grown was refined to R = 0.0195 based on 922 nonequivalent reflection
s. Particular attention was given to the occupancies of the cationic positi
ons determined analytically using the corresponding system of equations.
